Dr. Steven M. Greer does one podcast episode a month and I always look forward to it. This time I left a comment on his last one asking where he got his weirdly high COVID-19 death toll from (38:45). He placed the virus’ body count at 25m but when he factored in the mortalities caused by the global “shut-down,” that number went up tenfold to 250,000,000.
Seriously? How?
You always want to tread carefully around a UFOlogist, from Dr. Greer to Bob Lazar and Richard Doty back around to Tom DeLonge. These men cannot be trusted.
Steven Greer is the easiest-to-like UFOlogist out there for my tastes. At 71 years old, he’s built like a tractor; charismatic and smart – he really is a retired ER doctor. His anecdotes have a depth and redundancy that make them plausible. He’s kind of ugly, which makes him easier to trust than if he looked like Jon Hamm.
But then there’s the name dropping. And the cost of attending a retreat. And the refusal to alienate what I imagine is a large percentage of his followers by not calling out Trump for the obvious con-man-being-conned that he is.
Dr. Greer says he’s direct and that it offends people and he won’t change because there’s no time left to pussyfoot around. Except, he’s an expert moose-knuckle when it comes to this administration. I get that he has to play politics to stay close to power and that said power is a cabal of malignant narcissists, but are his connections so tenuous and his strategies so brittle that he can never call a spade a spade?
Listen to him dance around Trump’s blatant corruption in any episode; it’s a masterclass in diplomacy through obscurity.
I wish I was smart and driven enough to have assembled a stronger think-piece about Dr. Greer, but when I enlisted Copilot to help me get started, it basically took over. I pushed back, telling it I needed to practice being human by asking questions and getting frustrated and failing, but that I was going to take everything it gave me and start from there.
This will be a recurring topic, and I just assigned myself a huge reading list to complement it. Judge me for using AI as a crutch if you insist, but it’s been over 10 years since I researched anything semi-seriously.
I just need it to augment my thinking and illustrate my dumb ideas.
